The Red Winged Fairy Wren is endemic to the south western corner or Western Australia. The male has brilliantly coloured breeding plumage, with a stunning blue crown, red shoulders, and contrasting black throat. Females have a softer appearance with grey to brown plumage. At 15 cm's long, they are the largest among the fairy wrens. And like other fairy wrens, male red-winged fairy wrens like to give brightly coloured petals to a female as part of a courtship ritual.
